How to convert HEIC to JPG
iPhones save photos in the space-saving HEIC format by default. Many programs, websites and older Windows computers cannot handle it, though. Here you can convert HEIC photos to JPG or PNG, many at once, and your photos stay on your device.
- Select up to 30 HEIC photos or drag them into the box.
- Choose JPG or PNG and, for JPG, the image quality. 80% is a good value.
- Start the conversion and download the photos one by one or together as a ZIP.
JPG or PNG?
JPG is the standard for photos: the files are small and open everywhere. PNG is lossless, but for photos the files are often many times larger. For everyday photos, JPG is therefore the better choice.
Switch your iPhone to JPG
If you want new photos to be saved as JPG right away, open Settings on your iPhone, go to Camera, then Formats, and choose “Most Compatible”. For photos that are already saved as HEIC, this tool helps.
Frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your photos are not sent to a server, so even private pictures stay on your device.
Are the capture date and location kept?
No, the converted images contain no EXIF data such as location, date or camera model. That protects your privacy when you share photos. The orientation of the photo stays correct.
What happens to Live Photos?
A Live Photo consists of a still image and a short video. The still image is converted. The video is a separate file and is not processed.
Why is my file rejected?
HEIC and HEIF photos up to 25 MB per file and 50 megapixels are supported. RAW photos in DNG format and AVIF images are not processed.
