How to resize images

Many platforms require specific dimensions, and camera photos are often much larger than a website or email needs. Here you choose a preset such as Full HD or set the width, height or percentage yourself. The aspect ratio is always kept, so nothing gets distorted.

  1. Select the images you want to resize.
  2. Choose a preset such as Full HD or a custom size in pixels or percent. The new dimensions appear right below.
  3. Start resizing and check the dimensions and file size in the result.

Which size fits?

For screens and presentations, Full HD with 1920 × 1080 pixels is ideal. For websites and blogs the “Web” preset with 1,600 pixels on the longest side is usually enough, for emails the “Email” preset with 1,024 pixels. For printing, keep the original size.

Shrink rather than enlarge

When you shrink images, they stay sharp and the file gets much smaller. That is why the presets never enlarge: if an image is already smaller, it keeps its size. With a custom width, height or percentage you can enlarge as well, but the image then looks softer.

Frequently asked questions

Is the aspect ratio kept?

Yes. With a preset the image is fitted into the frame; with a custom width or height the other side is calculated to match. A photo with 4,000 × 3,000 pixels, for example, becomes 1,440 × 1,080 pixels with Full HD.

Can I resize several images at once?

Yes, up to 30 images per run. All are processed with the same setting. With a preset each image fits the frame on its own, portrait photos included. Download the results one by one or together as a ZIP file.

How do I set a specific height?

Under “New size”, choose “Height in pixels”. The width is then calculated to match. If you need a fixed aspect ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9, crop the image first with “Crop images”.

What is the largest possible size?

Width and height can be between 1 and 16,000 pixels, percentages between 1 and 400. The result may have at most 25 megapixels. If it would be larger, you will see a notice.
