How to convert PDF pages to images
Sometimes you need a PDF page as an image, for example for a presentation, a social media post or a form that only accepts images. Here you export selected pages as JPG or PNG at 1,600 pixels wide, right in your browser.
- Select a PDF file. A preview shows you every page.
- Enter the pages you want, for example 1, 3-5, or leave the field empty for all pages.
- Choose JPG or PNG, create the images and download them.
JPG or PNG?
JPG creates smaller files and is fine for photos and most documents. PNG is lossless and renders fine text, lines and charts especially cleanly, at the cost of larger files.
Selecting pages
Separate single pages with commas and write ranges with a hyphen, for example 1, 4, 7-9. You can export up to 30 pages per run. Export longer documents in several passes.
Frequently asked questions
What resolution do the images have?
Each page is rendered 1,600 pixels wide, and the height follows from the page format. An A4 page therefore becomes about 1,600 × 2,263 pixels. That is easy to read on screen and enough for most purposes.
Can I still select the text?
No. An image only contains the text as pixels. If you want to keep searching or copying the text, keep the PDF as well.
Do password-protected PDFs work?
No, protected PDFs cannot be opened. Open the document with its password in a PDF program, save an unprotected copy and select that instead.
How do I download all images at once?
When you export several pages, you can download each image separately or all of them together as a ZIP file.
